What to Expect:
Before your appointment
Be sure to have your exact shoes and undergarments that you will be wearing with your dress on your wedding day.
Have your dress sent to the workshop or bring it with you the day of your appointment.
During your appointment
Your measurements will be taken and your seamstress will pin your dress, according to the alterations, needed to get a perfect fit. Common alterations needed, are hemming, bustling, taking in the bodice, and taking up straps or shoulders. The total cost of your alterations will depend on how many alterations tasks are needed. At the end of your first fitting, your seamstress will go over the alterations tasks needed and give you your total cost for alterations. At this point you and your seamstress will schedule your next appointment for you to try on your dress once alterations are complete. Expect a 3-6 week turnaround time.
At your second appointment
Remember to bring your shoes and undergarments once again.
You will try on your altered gown to ensure the fit is perfect. Any adjustments needed will be assessed and completed on the spot during the fitting or a third fitting appointment will be scheduled.
It is common to have three to four fittings for dresses that require customizations such as adding sleeves, detachable trains, and other custom work.
After your final appointment
At the end of your final appointment you may take your dress with you.
Should you need, your dress can be stored until you are ready to pick it up, at which point it will be steamed and prepared for the aisle.
